The History of Computers - Introduction

I have decided to do my final project on the history of computers. In my project I will be discussing the how computers and technology has become more popular and advanced throughout time.

The word computer was officially recorded in 1613. In that time the word computer meant a person who made calculations and computations.

In 1822 Charles Babbage began trying to develop what he called the Difference Engine, it was thought to be the first official automatic machine that was capable of of doing several sets of numbers and making copies of the results. Charles Babbage did not have enough money to complete his machine.

Charles later tried to invent a similar machine called the Analytical Engine. This machine had Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) basic flow, and an integrated memory and the first it was the first general concept. Babbage still did not have enough money to finish this project, so the machine was not finished in while Charles Babbage was living.
Konrad Zuse was from Germany, he made the Z1 in his parent’s living room in 1936 to 1938 made the first modern day computer that was somewhat functional.

Tommy Flowers made the Colossus which was the first programmable computer, that computer was created in December of 1943.

A computer made in 1949 a computer that was called the EDSAC. It was the first computer to record calculations. The EDSAC made its first calculations in May of 1949.

As I go through my project about the history of computer I hope to learn about modern technology.
